COCK SPARRER

Formed in 1974, initially under the name Cock Sparrow, Colin McFaull as singer, guitarist Michael Beaufoy, bassist Steve Burgess and drummer Steven Bruce. All of them and his manager, Will Murray, had been friends since kids and grew up together in the East End of London. Opening for bands like Motorhead and The Small Faces until they signed the Decca label. Shortly after Lammin Garrie, Burgess's cousin, joined the band as second guitarist. His subjects were about their daily lives and their love for the West Ham soccer team. They performed at the pub The Bridge House or venues in London as The Marquee. His first release, published in May 1977, was the single Runnin Riot (Decca, 1977), followed by We Love You (Decca, 1977) and Same debut LP (Decca, 1978). Last played in the Fulham Greyhound, until they reformed in 1983, and published the successful Cock Sparrer top album Shock Troops Lp (Razor, 1983). In 1992 Daryl Smith joined the band as rhythm guitar. With him in the line up they recorded the LP Guilty As Charged (Bitzcore, 1994) and made a mini tour in Germany which meant a return to the stage of Cock Sparrer after years of silence. The group then would release a new album Two Monkeys (Bitzcore, 1997). In 2007 they returned to the studios and recorded a new album  with Here We Stand (Captain Oi!, 2007) and new shows around the world, Cock Sparrer are without any doupt the premiere league of streetpunk!.
