Much has been talked about in recent months about the new album and single by one of the best-known bands in the spanish Oi! & punk scene, what band are we talking about? of course, its
Suburban Rebels from Barcelona.
Suburban Rebels entered the studio at the end of 2021 to record their new album
"Vells però encara forts" (Old but still strong) and the songs for their single
"Sang i Glòria" (Blood and Glory). It all started as a challenge in the lockdown, the architect was "Salchicha" (Sausage) former manager of Suburban Rebels based in London. The band picked up the gauntlet and started writing songs. The rehearsals took place when possible, which was not easy considering the mobility restrictions at that time, especially when each one lives in a different corner of Catalonia. The studio chosen by the band was the Akrasonic studios in the Zona Franca of Barcelona, the old neighborhood of Irra and Kabra.
It can be said that this album is quite a varied album with some powerful Oi! such as
"Ataca ya!!" (Attack now),
"Orgullo" (Pride),
"Botellas" (Bottles) or even
"Skinhead Rock n Roll", with these songs we find ourselves before a logical extension of the well-known album
"Nacidos para provocar" (Born to provoke) that so many skinheads and punks have enjoyed over the years. On the other hand, there are more nostalgic songs like "
Nunca dejes de soñar" (Never stop dreaming) a posthumous tribute song to a great friend of the band named Jordi Miranda who passed away not long ago and who already had a dedicated song on the demo
"Barcelona Oi!" titled

"Dies de Pluja" (Rainy Days) is also a song tinged with nostalgia. Perhaps highlighting a song composed by a former member of the band called Xavi Xalmeta, this song has been recorded in two different versions, one for the album and one for the EP and featured Xavi himself on vocals and guitar, the song in question
"La Revolta" (The Revolt). We cannot fail to highlight the theme
"Elegants i Arrogants" (Smart and Arrogants) dedicated to the mod and scooterist scene. Remember that Suburban Rebels was not founded by a skinhead or a punk as many could have thought, but by a mod called Alex (the bass player), and the band wanted to pay tribute to that scene with which they have many friends and followers. Irra, the singer is a fervent follower of the Bohse Onkelz and has wanted to pay his personal tribute to the band with
"Des de l'Infern fins a l'eternitat" (From Hell to Eternity), here Kabra has embroidered it with the guitars and Alex with the bass lines. There's a pretty cool "
Mods, Skins, Punks" cover. As I said, a great album that has been worth waiting for.

What does the record include?
The record edition is available in 3 different colors of vinyl; Black, Aqua Blue and Red. It will include a full color fanzine with an interview with the band, photos, etc... Also an insert with the lyrics, some texts written by the singer himself, Irra, where he explains what is behind each song. The album cover is a collage of old photos of skinheads, punks, mods, hooligans, bootboys, bands, etc... everything that has influenced the band.
